Houston St. Agnes Academy came out locked on Saturday at Pearland Dawson’s Eagle Invitational to prove that last year’s TAPPS 6A state championship was no fluke.
The Tigers put all of its scoring runners in the first 13 positions, led by sophomore – and second team LSCSN preseason All-State selection – Camille Napier, who took second overall in 12:19.11 on the two-mile course.
Junior Amelie Born, Leah Jordan and freshman Anna Williams grabbed the seventh through ninth spots with times of 12:37.37, 12:38.59 and 12:53.18, respectively.
Sophomore Calista Schneidau was 13th overall in 12:57.25.
Junior Emily Heinz, who was sixth at the TAPPS 6A state meet last October, was the Tigers’ sixth runner in 18th place in 13:08.22.
In all, St. Agnes had ten of the top 26 runners in the race – and won the team event with 39 points. Richmond George Ranch was far behind in second with 95.
Conroe Covenant Christian’s Nathan Evans, a sophomore, was 31st in the boys race in 11:09.46.
He was 21st at the TAPPS 2A state meet as a freshman last October.
