San Antonio FEAST Homeschool and San Antonio Christian School were 6th and 12th out of 20 girls’ teams at the 2nd annual SCUC Invitational at Steele High School in Cibolo on Saturday.
Three of the top five finishers came from two of San Antonio’s top homeschool progams.
San Antonio Home School Spartans’ Joy Gill won the race in a two-mile time of 12:37, 22 seconds ahead of runnerup (and junior) Lauren Bettencourt of San Antonio FEAST Homeschool.
FEAST Homeschool’s Arianna Farias was fifth overall in 13:29.
Ella Glander led San Antonio Christian School with a 26th place finish in 14:31.
The two schools boys’ teams were sixth (FEAST) and 13th (SACS), respectively, out of 23 teams.
Joshua Powers and Woody Bratcher led FEAST with 19th and 31st place overall finishes of 11:46 and 11:58, respectively, while Joel Carlson was the fastest for San Antonio Christian School in a time of 12:22.
The San Antonio Home School Spartans’ Josiah Gill was in between Bratcher and Carlson with a 37th place finish of 12:04.
Schertz John Paul II Catholic’s varsity competed in the JV division and was 14th out of 21 for the girls and 23rd for the boys.
Kyle Perches was the fastest John Paul II runner in 14:05, while Madeline Seebeck led the Lions’ girls in 24th place with a time of 15:54.
Individually, Hayden Inmon and James Rios led First Baptist Academy of Universal City with marks of 13:50 (73rd place) and 13:59 (84th place), while Lily Alverez was FBA’s first female in 21:41.
