Maybe the most impressive performance of the weekend was turned in by Concordia Lutheran. The Crusaders captured 3rd place in the Magnolia Volley Battle, sickness defeating Magnolia, generic Cy Ranch, sales and Lumberton in pool play. On Friday, Concorida defeated College Station and Barbers Hill before falling to Willis in straight sets. On Saturday, the Crusaders defeated Willis before falling to powerhouse Oak Ridge in 3 sets. The Woodlands High School took home the trophy with a 2-0 win over Oak Ridge.
At the Allen tournament, the 5A favorite Bishop Lynch played well as expected. Wins over Frisco Centennial, West Mesquite, and Southlake JV propelled the Friars into a match with Flower Mound Marcus on Saturday. The Friars defeated Marcus in 2 sets, advancing to face Southlake Carroll. The Dragons defeated Lynch, setting up a match with Plano West, the third of the week between the Frairs and Wolves. Both coaches agreed to not play this match due to fatigue, causing a tie for 3rd place in the Allen Tournament.
Holy Cross (San Antonio) placed 1st at the SAISD tournament. During tournament play, the Lady Knights defeated: Donna, Jefferson, Wagner, South San, McAllen, Schertz John Paul II. Holy Cross is now 13-1 on the season.
Lubbock Trinity Christian captured the title in the annual Ft. Worth Christian PIT tournament as they defeated the host Cardinals 25-18, 21-25, 15-10.
Heritage Christian Academy from Rockwall won the North Hopkins tournament with a straight set win over Prairiland.
San Antonio St. Anthony won the bronze bracket championship of the SAISD tournament.
