Proverbs 22:1 “A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.”
What is your reputation? What have you done to enhance or tarnish the name given you? Would you sell your name? How good is your word? What adjectives would others use to describe you? It’s been said that it takes a lifetime to build a good name, but it can be lost in a moment. If this is depressing, I have good news. You can rebuild your name, starting today. The key is building on the precepts of God, desiring to please Him more so than man. Ironically, doing so accelerates your new reputation. Others see the change. They wonder for awhile if it is for real. Doubters will say a leopard never changes its spots. That’s a lie with Jesus. He transforms lives so that old ways fade and the new man rises. Remember that all have sinned. Let the tarnish of yours be a dramatic difference to your redeemed ways and strive to build a legacy with a good name.
Lord, thank You for victory over sin. Create in us a personal accountability so that daily living centers on pleasing You. Let that drive be followed with actions that lead to a lasting, genuine good name that we uphold for future generations.
Build a good name today.
