Thought For The Day by Al Boulden

Matthew 3:1-3  “In those days, John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.’ This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: ‘A voice of one calling in the wilderness, Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.”

Prophecy told of a voice who would proclaim Messiah’s arrival. The baby Elizabeth and Zechariah raised grew as a righteous man who boldly walked the countryside urging listeners, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”  John would meet Jesus face-to-face in the Jordan River whereupon John would baptize Christ!  Can you imagine?  John was a righteous man who would face a martyr’s death, but there was no question that heaven would be his eternal residence.  We who have Christ in our heart can rest assured that the Lord has predestined the days of our lives.  We, too, can be certain of heaven.  Until then, wake with prayer and praise on your lips and strive to glorify the Lord.  “Make straight paths for him.”

Lord, thank You for messengers such as John the Baptist.  Allow his example to inspire and encourage our lives.  Empower us to rest in the Truth that truly sets us free.

Walk in Truth today.
