Thought For The Day by Al Boulden

Matthew 7:14  “For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”

Given a choice between hard and easy, most would choose easy.  There are so many examples to prove the easy way is unwise.  An athlete who wishes to excel must spend time training and pushing physical stamina to greater heights.  A student who seeks the dean’s list must put in hours of study instead of TV in order to achieve.  Here’s one exception.  Heaven is gained by accepting the saving grace of Jesus Christ.  It’s not what we do, but what Christ did for us. It’s easy to receive but hard to break through the distractions of sin nature.  After receiving salvation, we must live it.  We must become less so that God can become more in us.  We turn away from temptations.  We pray and study God’s Word and decide to live according to His ways rather than the ways of the world.  God gives us power to overcome, but we must use it.  The Holy Spirit provides warning before mistakes are made.  The transformation matures as we listen more to these warnings and walk in the grace of Almighty God. The way is hard but so worthwhile.

Lord, thank You for spiritual wisdom to choose the narrow gate and endurance to remain on the narrow road. Let our transformed life be witness to miraculous joy and fulfillment of walking with You.

Enter the narrow gate today.
