Thought For The Day by Al Boulden

Matthew 7:13  “Enter by the narrow gate.  For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.”

Think about the days that Jesus walked the earth.  His miracles, teachings and general way of life convinced many to believe and receive.  Sadly, the numbers who scoffed, doubted and even plotted against Him were far greater.  It’s hard to fathom anyone who saw Jesus in the flesh discounting His saving grace. Jesus understood, and that’s why He preached about the narrow and wide gates. The wide gate leads to temporal pleasures and temptations from the evil one. Worldly success and pleasure are the focus.  Such drive may lead to worldly achievement, but it fades fast and leaves us wondering, “Is that all there is?” So many who live this life destroy their family or lose their health along the way. The wide road is also taken by those who simply don’t care.  They live a self-filled life with no thoughts about eternity. They are content drifting through life just getting by.  How sad!  The wide gate is easy, but it leads to destruction.

Lord, thank You for awareness of the narrow and wide gates.  Help us understand Your ways compared to worldly ways.  Help us choose wisely.

Beware of the wide gate today.
