Thought For The Day by Al Boulden

Matthew 1:20  “But as he considered these things, behold an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.’ ”

Joseph was an honorable man from the line of David.  He loved Mary and anticipated a blessed life with her.  He knew that the baby she carried was not his.  He could have her stoned!  Instead, he planned to marry and quietly divorce her.  There must have been moments of anxiety, fear, and anger as he pondered this “favor from God.” Joseph was knowledgeable of Scripture, but it must have been hard to fathom God using Mary and him to fulfill prophecy.  What is God planning to do through you?  It may or may not be as grand as that lived out in Joseph.  Either way, God has blessings for you.  He wants you to have favor.  Are you trusting Him?  Are you seeking Him?  Don’t let worldly distractions diminish the favor God has for you.  Fix your eyes on the Lord and praise Him for the eternal promise that carries no doubt.  Let that joy be the spark that lights a fire to your witness regardless of circumstances. Trust God, obey, and anticipate.

Lord, thank You for the witness of Joseph.  Let his actions of honor and obedience be an example to follow.  Fill us with assurance and awareness, especially in this season of birth.  Use us to fan the Spirit of Truth in the midst of secular distraction.

Seek God’s favor today.
