1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness”
In God’s sovereignty, He determined that sin nature never dies in our mortal state. A seed of sin remains, even in those who have surrendered to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. That’s why confession is so critical to the maturation process of a Christian. Yes, we are saved and sealed for eternal life with the Lord if we have sincerely, faithfully surrendered to the Lord and sought His Lordship. With salvation comes the Holy Spirit who resides in every saved person. The transformed soul hears the Holy Spirit that make us aware of forks in the road…bite the apple or not. When we resist temptation, victory in Christ exhilarates into joy. When we sin, Christ hears remorseful confession, encouraging us to “rise and sin no more.” This is the purification process of a maturing Christian. If sinful acts are constant, consciously defying precepts of the Lord, that person must question their conversion. One day, we will stand before the Lord and receive rewards for times we have stood firm and righteous. Anticipate that reckoning today… and everyday,,, with every decision.
Lord, thank You for salvation and the opportunity to confess sins past, present and future. Purify us so that each day we grow more Christ-like.
Confess your sins today.
