2 Corinthians 12:8-9 “Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
Paul was a powerful Old Testament scholar who killed Christians before his conversion on the Road to Damascus(Acts 9). After surrender to Jesus, he went throughout the world preaching, teaching and writing 13 of the 27 Books that comprise the New Testament. While leading thousands, if not millions, to redemption, Paul carried a “thorn in the flesh.” He prayed for God to remove this malady, but God’s reply was, “My grace is sufficient…..” We wonder why Christians get cancer or endure terrible tragedy. Like Paul, we must understand that God’s grace is sufficient. He gives power, especially in a weakened state. Mature in your walk with Christ so that you exclaim, “Not me but Christ in me.” To Him be the glory.
Lord, thank You for power to overcome thorns in the flesh. We do so in the Name of Jesus. Keep us attentive to the Holy Spirit so that we shine for You in victory as well as trouble. Allow Your power to shine in us.
Boast in the power of Christ today.
