Incarnate Word Routs Nolan
SWEENY – The defending state champion Incarnate Word Shamrocks showed why they are poised to repeat as TAPPS 5A champions in a 10-0 run-rule victory over Nolan Catholic on Thursday evening in a semifinal matchup. The Shamrocks’ Michelle Iparraguirre allowed just one hit in the 5-inning effort and struck out 6. Offensively, IWHS got all they needed in the first inning off of Nolan starter Blanca Aguilera. Alyssa Pinto was hit by a pitch and Iparraguirre walked to start the bottom half of the first. Megan Jimenez then singled in Pinto. With one out, Gianna Brown hit a sac fly to center to score Sarah Peterson, who was running or Iparraguirre.

The Shamrocks scored three more runs in the second inning, three runs in the fourth inning, and two runs in the fifth inning to finish off the Lady Vikings. Incarnate Word will face St. Agnes on Friday at 3 P.M. for the TAPPS 5A state championship.
