Still Creek Cruises Past St. Joseph

The Still Creek Christian Colts defeated the Bryan St. Joseph Eagles 56-23 on Monday night in boys basketball action. St. Joseph led 5-1 early when Still Creek went on a 9-0 run to end the 1st quarter, leading 10-4. The second quarter started as the first period ended.

St. Joseph called timeout at the 3:13 mark as Still Creek was on a 19-2 run. Sophomore John Najvar ended the Eagles scoring drought with a quick two pointer after the timeout. The Colts outscored St. Joseph 14-4 in the quarter to take a 24-9 halftime lead.

In the third period, both teams scored 12 points while the 4th quarter saw the Colts score 20 of 22 points on the play of Mark Mabry and Morgan Counts. Both teams cleared their benches as Still Creek completed the win over St. Joseph.

Counts led all scorers with 17 points while Mabry added 15 points and 9 rebounds. John Najvar led St. Joseph with 11 points. Sophomore John Saldua acored 8 points and Senior Quentin Casarez pulled down 6 boards for the Eagles.
