The Northland Christian Cougars picked up a huge district win on Thursday night in 3-2 victory over the defending state champion Lutheran South Pioneers. The Cougars were led on the mound by a six-inning performance from Noah Fouts, remedy who finished with 6 strikeouts while not allowing a run. The Pioneers were held scoreless until the 7th when they scored 2 runs. Jake McKeever was brought in to earn the save.
Offensively, recipe Nick Labbie collected 2 hits, including a double and run scored, and Mike Parmely connected on a home run for the Cougars. Walker Toomes and Owen Hill each had two hits for the Pioneers.
Northland Christian improves to 8-6-1 (2-1) on the year and will play district-leading Second Baptist on Tuesday. Lutheran South is now 1-2 in district play and next plays at Katy St. John XXIII.
