Five Privates in ASC Nike Denton Ryan Classic

Another behemoth of a volleyball tournament in the ASC Nike Denton Ryan Classic finds a handful of Texas private and parochial school programs.

Just like Pearland ISD’s Texas Volleyball Invitational / John Turner Classic, the Denton Ryan Classic will feature 79 different high schools tomorrow and Saturday.

Almost half of them – 37, to be exact – got underway on Thursday.

Four TAPPS schools – Argyle Liberty Christian, Fort Worth Nolan, Fort Worth Lake Country Christian and Dallas Parish Episcopal and one SPC school – Dallas The Hockaday School – are taking part.

All but Liberty Christian and Lake Country Christian played on Thursday in Division II Power Pools action.

Parish Episcopal took a pair, while Nolan split their two matches and Hockaday lost both of their contests.

Division II Power Pool 2
Fort Worth Nolan over Aubrey, 2-1 (25-18, 26-28, 25-20)
Callisburg over Fort Worth Nolan, 2-0 (25-18, 25-16)

Division II Power Pool 4
Parish Episcopal over Dallas The Hockaday School, 2-0 (25-12, 25-21)
Parish Episcopal over Lindsay, 2-0 (25-20, 25-23)
Lindsay over Dallas The Hockaday School, 2-0 (25-20, 25-19)

The schedule on Friday features the following teams in their respective Division II pools:

Division II Pool 3
Argyle Liberty Christian plays Anna and Bowie

Division II Pool 8
Fort Worth Nolan plays Celina, Nocona and Academy

Division II Pool 9
Parish Episcopal plays Aubrey, Howe and Fort Worth Eastern Hills

Division II Pool 10

Argyle Liberty Christian is the only one of the four TAPPS teams which were ranked in the TAPPS Krossover Coaches polls.  The Warriors started 2017 tenth in Class 6A.
