American Southwest Conference
RICHARDSON, Texas – Concordia Texas midfielder Cayla Gonzalez was named American Southwest Conference women’s soccer offensive player of the week Tuesday for her outstanding performances the week of Sept. 1-5.
Gonzalez, a freshman out of Austin’s Veritas Academy, netted four goals in two games to grab the accolade.
It is the first time a CTX women’s soccer player has been named player of the week since Kila Hartom in 2014.
Gonzalez opened her career with a two-goal game to help propel Concordia to a 4-3 comeback win over University of Dallas. She followed it up with two more goals in the Tornados 5-0 dismantling of Southwestern.
On the week, Gonzalez had eight total points, 10 shots and six shots on goal in just two games to help CTX open the season 2-0.
