The St. Joseph Eagles softball squad saw their first game action of the season on Thursday afternoon and won two games to open the Iola tournament. In the first game, try St. Joseph defeated host Iola 20-0.
In the second game, the Eagles defeated Buffalo 11-6. St. Joseph was down 4-0 after the first inning, but sophomore pitcher Makayla Coe-Rodriguez settled and allowed just 2 more runs over the next 3 innings.
Coach Lauren Elias made her managerial debut after serving as an assistant last season. The Eagles continue in the Iola tournament on Friday at noon versus Lovelady and will face Alpha Omega at 1:30.
