RED OAK – Trailing 7-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Red Oak Ovilla Christian won in thrilling fashion when Jackson Glenn connected on a 2-run walk-off bomb to defeat Dallas First Baptist Academy 8-7. Ovilla is unbeaten in district play and will claim the top seed in TAPPS 3-3A.

JPII Drops Game to Beckville
HOUSTON – In a game played at Minute Maid Park, the Corpus Christi John Paul II Centurions lost to Beckville 12-4. The Centurions held a 4-3 lead going into the fifth inning when Beckville exploded for seven runs to put the game away. Beckville pounded out 11 hits while JPII was limited to just 3 hits.

Second Baptist Clinches Outright Title
HOUSTON – Needing just one win in their final three games to claim a district championship, Second Baptist defeated Emery Weiner 2-0 on Thursday night. Emery’s Joe Sondock was outstanding on the mound, allowing just five hits in a complete game effort. As impressive as Sondock was, Jared Pettitte had an even better performance for Second Baptist. The Eagles starter went the distance, allowing just one hit and striking out 8. Carter Neumann led the Eagles at the plate, going 2 for 2 and scoring both runs. Second Baptist moves to 12-0 in league play. Emery Weiner is now 7-5 in district and tied with Cypress Christian for third place.

Northland Alone in Second After Win Over Cypress Christian
HOUSTON – Nick Labbie hit a bases clearing double in the bottom of the sixth to give the Northland Christian Cougars the edge over Cypress Christian in a key district game played Thursday night. Tied at 3 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, Labbie belted a 3-run double that secured Northland’s 6-3 win. Labbie also started on the mound for the Cougars and gave way to Teddy Lewis with one out in the sixth. Lewis picked up the win while Noah Fouts struck out the side in the seventh for the save. Cypress Christian starting pitcher Logan Hoag went the distance for the Warriors, striking out 5.

Northland controls their playoff seeding and can wrap up the second seed by winning their last two games against Second Baptist and Fort Bend Christian. If Northland drops a game and Emery Weiner wins their final two games, Emery would be the second seed in TAPPS 5-4A due to winning the season series versus the Cougars.

The Eagles used a balanced offensive attack to down the Crusaders, getting RBI from eight different players.
