#3 TAPPS 6A Antonian drops #2 5A Holy Cross

In a matchup of top-preseason ranked TAPPS teams, the Lady Apaches of San Antonio Antonian College Prep – third in the TAPPS Krossover Coaches 6A poll – swept Holy Cross of San Antonio three sets to none on Wednesday night at home.

Antonian dropped Holy Cross to 0-2 with set wins of 25-23, 25-19 and 25-15.

The Knights, who lost the state championship a year ago to Austin St. Michael’s Academy and start the year second in TAPPS 5A preseason poll, lost on opening night to UIL Boerne Champion, 3-1.

Holy Cross heads to Tyler to take part in TAPPS Spike Down Classic on Friday and Saturday where amazingly it drew the defending 5A champions in its Pool B at Tyler All Saints Episcopal School.

Antonian, now 2-0 after its win Tuesday night over Poth, awaits San Antonio Reagan on the road next Wednesday night, August 16.

Elsewhere, San Antonio Saint Mary’s Hall opened its season with a 3-0 sweep of Schertz John Paul II in Booke Gym and will particpate in the San Antonio Harlandale Tournament this weekend, according to @SMH_Barons.
